Volunteer Coordinator - Luisanna Crespo
Luisanna is a Lawrence, Massachusetts native and a graduate from the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. During her time as an undergraduate, she worked at a public school in her hometown as an associate teacher, held executive board positions at a multicultural organization, and helped start up a mentorship program and served as a mentor for students in danger of dropping out of Lowell High School. As a second year volunteer, Luisanna is assisting DREAM as the Volunteer Coordinator and team member of the Global Connections team. Coming from a Dominican background, Luisanna is very excited to be able to contribute to her Dominican community in a more direct way with the DREAM project.

Isaías Sánchez Bencosme [email protected]
Isaías Sánchez Bencosme was born September 27th, 1992 in San Francisco de Macorís. Two years after, Isaías moved to Puerto Plata with his mother and brother. He studied at the primary school of Puerto Cabarete and finished his studies in the secondary school of Vespertina Sabaneta of Yasica. Isaías is currently working on his second year of Computer Engineering at the Dominican University O & M in Puerto Plata. Isaías currently works at the DREAM Project as a teacher in Reading, writing, basic math and basic computer skills. He teaches the basic levels of primary schools.
Yessica Peña Martinez [email protected]
Yessica María Peña Martínez studies Primary Education, First Cycle, at the Technological University of Santiago (UTESA). She is a native of Los Brazos Jamao al Norte. She entered Dream Project as an intern for FUTUROS. FUTUROS strengthened her knowledge by giving her the opportunity to practice in a classroom with an experienced teacher. There she acquired and developed different skills like: classroom management, leadership, useful activities and icebreakers, and teaching-learning strategies among others. Working at Dream has been a wonderful experience for her because it has helped her grow both as a person and in a professional environment, strengthening her career and giving her students a higher quality education.
Nirelis Puello [email protected]
Nirelis started working with DREAM in 2012 as a Deportes Para la Vida (DPV) trainer in the municipality of Guaymate in La Romana, a community to which she belongs. Previously, she was already working in a community group called Grupo Voluntarios de Guaymate. Since she was a teenager, she has always been interested in the social and educational field and because of that she had a long career doing community work and participating in different events as a youth leader.
In 2013, she joined the board committee of the Peace Corps’ Bright Girls program and held her position there for two years. In that same year, she worked as a coordinator for DPV in the eastern region of the country and a year later she participated in the Journalists of the Future project carried out by the eastern radio station COC.
In 2015, she participated in the Youth Leadership Camp in Medellin, Colombia with other young adults from different parts of Latin America. This event was held by the UNOSDP, which aimed to teach techniques to work with sports for development in an educational and inclusive manner. In 2016, she obtained her degree from Federico Henríquez and Carvajal University of La Romana and that same year she was hired by DREAM to work as the coordinator of the Unica Program for Women's Empowerment and Social Equality.
